Hello and welcome to Lila Photography!

My name is Krista Montrone, and I’m so thrilled you’ve found your way here. Let me share a little bit about my journey.

I was born in New Hampshire and spent my childhood living in various states across New England. I began dancing at the age of three and instantly fell in love with it. From a young age, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. After high school, I moved to New York City, where I was represented by MSA and worked on numerous projects in the commercial dance world. Three years later, I moved to Philadelphia, where I began teaching, choreographing, and continuing to perform. In 2011, I was honored to join the world-renowned Koresh Dance Company, where I had the privilege of touring extensively across the U.S. and internationally for seven years.

Throughout my career, teaching became a deeply cherished role. I began as an educator 15 years ago, and after retiring from performing, I was able to devote myself more fully to teaching and choreographing for schools across the Philadelphia area and beyond.

During this time, I naturally transitioned into the world of photography. It was something I’d always been drawn to, though up until this point, my only experience came from high school classes and small projects I’d done for friends and family. Photography became the first medium where I felt the same flow and exhilaration that dance had always given me.

The elements I love most about dance — intention, expression, and capturing something fleeting — are the same things that draw me to photography. Both invite you to be in the moment and create something that lasts beyond it.

Lila Photography was founded four years ago in Philadelphia with a desire to create and connect in a new way. This summer, I relocated back to New Hampshire and am excited to continue growing this work in a new space. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you and collaborating to create the experience you envision!
