Hello and welcome to Lila Photography! My name is Krista Montrone, and I’m so thrilled you’ve found your way here. Let me share a little bit about my journey.

I was born in New Hampshire and spent my childhood living in various states across New England. I began dancing at the age of 3 and instantly fell in love with it. From a very young age, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue. After high school, I moved to NYC, where I was represented by MSA and worked on numerous projects in the commercial dance world. After three years in New York, I moved to Philadelphia, where I began teaching, choreographing, and continuing to perform. In 2011, I was honored to join the world-renowned Koresh Dance Company, where I had the privilege of touring extensively across the U.S. and internationally for seven years.

Throughout my career, teaching became a deeply cherished role for me. I started as an educator 15 years ago, and once I retired from performing, I was able to dedicate even more time to it, continuing to teach and choreograph for multiple schools in the Philadelphia area and beyond. During this time, I naturally transitioned into the world of photography. Up until this point, my only exposure had been high school photography classes and small projects I was doing for friends and family just for fun. Photography became the first medium where I felt the same flow and exhilaration that dance had always given me. I immersed myself in learning, and a new passion was born!

The aspects I love about dance – whether as a performer or educator – resonate deeply in photography; being fully immersed in a moment with another person, creating connection, offering an experience rather than just a product, and holding a moment still in time. As an artist, this is where I feel truly alive.

Lila Photography was founded three years ago in Philadelphia, with a strong desire to connect and create with others in a new and exciting way. This summer, I relocated back to New Hampshire, excited to continue growing this business in a new space. I hope to share this experience with you, and I’m so excited to get to know you and curate the photographic experience you envision.
